GTA 6: What's Officially Confirmed (and What's Still Rumor)

Updated October 3, 2026 · 6 min read

Here is what Rockstar and the console stores have confirmed about GTA 6 as of October 3, 2026: the game launches on Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. In the US it costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12. Rockstar describes the game as "a single player experience". No PC version, no online mode and no timing for either has been announced. Everything else you see is either a store detail or a rumor, and this page keeps the two apart.

We only list a fact when it appears in Rockstar's own announcements, on its website, on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store listing, or on the ESRB rating page. Things change before launch, so always check Rockstar's newswire and the store listings for the latest.

  • Pre-order bonus: pre-orders and purchases before November 20 get a bonus pack with a vehicle, a garage, outfits and a weapon pattern.
  • Free month of GTA+: included with digital pre-orders. The stores note it auto-renews at the regular price unless you cancel, and GTA+ benefits apply to GTA Online for the previous game, not to GTA 6.
  • Physical copies: go on sale November 12 and contain a download code. Rockstar's support page says there is no disc in the box.
  • Collector's Box: a limited box sold by Rockstar's store, arriving November 19. The game is sold separately.

Pre-load and launch timing

  • Pre-load: players who pre-order digitally can start pre-loading on November 12 (Rockstar support says at local midnight).
  • Unlock time: not announced by region. Store data shows a timestamp, but that is not an announced unlock time.
  • File size: not published by Rockstar or the stores.

Single player, online and multiplayer

Rockstar's June 24, 2026 announcement says: "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience." The PlayStation Store lists it as offline play for one player. The Xbox listing says it requires an internet connection and a Rockstar Games account. An online mode is widely expected later, but nothing has been announced and there is no date.

Story, trailers and music

  • Main characters: Jason and Lucia, a criminal duo, named by Rockstar in its trailer and game page text.
  • Videos: Trailer 1 (December 2023), Trailer 2 (May 2025) and "An Extended Look" (August 27, 2026, which premiered on Netflix). No third trailer or gameplay showcase has been announced.
  • Music: an album with 34 original tracks, made with Atlantic Records, releases November 19. Rockstar says in-game radio is coming but has not named any stations.
  • Map size: Rockstar calls it a "massive world" and gives no size.

If you want the whole path in order, LaunchPlay's six-step guide goes further: for creators, it turns these dates into a day-by-day launch plan, shows how to package news and explainer videos, and keeps a list of the platform and Rockstar rules that cost channels their monetization. It is an unofficial guide for beginner creators, a one-time US$19.90, and it does not promise income.
